Meet Dr AK
Dr Adnaan Karim (more commonly known as Dr AK) is the medical director of AAY Health. Originating from Malawi but having spent his life in Cape Town, he attended the prestigious Stellenbosch University and graduated with his medical degree in 2021. He then spent three years working in hospitals within Cape Town, rotating through a wide range of specialties including OBGYN, Paediatrics, Surgery, Internal Medicine, Psychiatry, Orthopaedics, Anaesthetics, and Family Medicine, before spending a year working in Cape Town’s busiest Emergency Centre.
Even as an undergraduate, Dr AK was frequently contacted by people from Malawi and surrounding regions seeking advice on arranging medical and surgical care in Cape Town. Drawing on his knowledge of cross-border healthcare logistics and the challenges patients face, he personally guided each individual to ensure they received the care they needed. Over time, he realized that perhaps his calling was to help patients globally access Cape Town’s world-class healthcare.
With many years of hands-on experience, Dr AK has developed a network of leading specialists across multiple specialities, ensuring every patient receives expert care, tailored to their needs — all personally overseen by him from consultation to recovery.
